Four Historic Houses

The boarding program at Ermitage International School occupies four residences in historic French buildings throughout Maisons-Laffitte, where students aged 11-18 share communal spaces while developing independence under house parents’ supervision. Families can choose between five- or seven-day boarding arrangements to match their schedules.

Located twenty minutes from Paris, the town gives residents access to the capital’s museums while offering a quiet provincial atmosphere to return to, with pedestrian streets and green parks that encourage evening walks.

International Community

Residents at Ermitage International School represent 26 nationalities and speak 14 languages, creating a mixed-age environment where younger teens live alongside upperclassmen. Cultural exchange happens naturally here—during shared dinners and in casual conversations between hallways.

Twenty organized trips per year complement this daily interaction, though most language practice unfolds at local bakeries and cafés, turning even routine errands into opportunities for improving French.

Responsibility Development Program

The Responsible Living Status program teaches older students to make decisions and accept the consequences that follow. Boarding Parents—mentors who live alongside residents—connect academic and daily life by coordinating with teachers, which maintains continuity across both spheres.

This structure builds organizational skills that transfer to university, as residents learn to manage time, balance studies with leisure, and respect roommates’ personal boundaries while navigating shared spaces.

Newcomer Integration at Ermitage International School

The Buddy System pairs newcomers with experienced students who guide them through their first weeks, while orientation begins before the academic year—students meet informally through games and team activities on campus.

The Amicale parents’ association helps families with practical matters, from finding nearby housing to recommending family doctors. Welcome events like barbecues give families a chance to meet the Ermitage community and feel connected from day one.
